A Beginner’s Guide to Mantras

Mantras are powerful tools that can help you achieve personal goals, reduce stress, and increase your focus. They have been used for centuries by yogis and spiritual seekers to enhance their meditation practices and connect with their inner selves. If you're new to mantras and want to learn how to use them effectively, this is a great start.

At its core, a mantra is a sound or phrase that is repeated over and over again to create a positive state of mind. The word "mantra" comes from Sanskrit, and it means "instrument of thought." When you repeat a mantra, you are using it as a tool to focus your mind and shift your consciousness.

“I am” is the single most important phrase. Affirm your desires by speaking positivity into all that you want to attract, what you want to become, and where you want to go. We are constantly growing and evolving so it's only right that the mantras we recite grow with us, too. “I am confident,” “I am beautiful,” “I am worthy of love and light” are just a few of the endless declarations you can make to replenish your well-being and re-center your soul. Reciting such mantras with purpose and conviction can shift your perception entirely. When we opt to see things differently, we do things differently.

As you repeat your mantra, try to focus all of your attention on the sound and vibration of the words. If your mind starts to wander, gently bring it back to the mantra and continue repeating it. You can use your mantra during meditation or throughout the day whenever you need a little extra boost of positive energy.

Here is a short list of mantras you can start with today:

I am more powerful than my pain.

I am magnetic and full of light.

I am in control.

I am worthy.

I am worthy of the love I give.

I am full of gratitude.

I am healthy.

I am sound.

I am protected.

My decisions are divinely guided.

I am at peace.
